Downtown Suffolk Cleanup

Sat, Oct 12th (9:00 - noon)

Cadets can earn 3 community service hours for their support of the Beautify Suffolk initiative.

We will meet at the Hilton Garden Inn (100 E Constance Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434) at 0900.

Wear your unit PT shirt (red or grey) and appropriate shoes.

News of the week (Sept 9-12, 2024)

AFJROTC Activity Fee: $50. Please let your instructor know if you need more time paying the fee. It covers the cost of dry cleaning your uniform when you return it as well as a unit T-shirt. Cadets can pay by cash or check (made out to "Nansemond River HS), or pay online using the Nansemond River High School website. Near the bottom of the homepage is a section called "Quick Links." Click the "Online School Payments" button.
Uniform issue: Monday, Sept 9th, for cadet who still need uniform items.
Color Guard practice start Monday 9 Sept after school (Mons & Weds, 3-5pm). Anyone interested cadet is welcome to join. The first Color Guard is the varsity football game, Friday, Sept 13th.
First Uniform wear is Service Coat (with Tie always) - Wednesday, Sept 18th.

116 cadets from: Nansemond River, Lakeland, Hampton, Menchville, Western Branch, GrassField and Indian River High Schools participated in this year's Leadership Course.

H2O for Life... Thank you VA-20021

Here are pictures taken from the two Ugandan schools that our cadets supported through personal contributions and fundraising. They donated $3,000 toward the completion of fresh water for these 2 schools!

NATO Parade

Only 13 Cadets participated in the 2024 NATO Parade.

Each receives 2 hours of community service.

Thousands of local residents looked on as we marched in downtown Norfolk.

We exceeded the Red Cross GOAL by 120.6% with 41 PINTS - enough to save 123 local neighbors!

Cadets collected = $7,800 this year!

How MoneyDolly works: Cadets agree to share specific phone contacts with MoneyDolly. It sends text messages with items to purchase (carmel corn, pretzels, jerky) or simply to donate to our program. Cadets can add "Helpers," from within their contact list - those who are willing to share their contacts and expand the pool of potential donors. Cadets receive credit per "unit" of donations, regardless of how much was donated.

Our cadet goal is to raise $3,000 for Ugandan 2 schools, upgrading the water systems - new well and pipes.

Saturday, 2 Dec., Three Events

1) Chik-Fil-A parade - 25 cadets made it to the Chesapeake Square Mall parking lot for the 8 AM parade! Each earns 1.5 hours of Community Service!

2) 10 cadets helped the Marines TOYS FOR TOTS at the Chesapeake Square Mall. Each earned at least 2 Hours of Community Service.

3) 7 Cadets helped at the John Yeates Middle School - Craft Fair. Sat, (9 am - 4 pm). Cadet received community service for time spent.

We raised $380 toward the Military Ball ($1,780 for the Ball total).

Cadets helped the Red Cross by collecting donors, preparing the room, helping out and tearing down.

The Blood Drive collected 28 Pints, enough to save 84 local residents.
